Why airflow matters
Many homes today — including a lot of new construction — have duct systems that went in quickly, without a real airflow design or a check of static pressure (how hard the blower has to push to move air through the ducts and filter).
That matters more now than it used to. Federal efficiency standards (the SEER2 ratings that took effect in 2023), variable-speed and inverter equipment, and the newer refrigerants replacing R-410A have made today’s systems more efficient — and more dependent on getting the right amount of air across the coil.
When airflow is poor or static pressure is too high, you can see:
- shorter equipment life and extra wear on blower motors and compressors
- hot and cold rooms, weak airflow from vents
- whistling registers and a noisy blower
- higher energy bills than the efficiency rating suggests
We look at the whole system — ducts, returns, filter and equipment — so your system can perform the way it was designed to.
